STEPS IN WORKING OUT YOUR FAITH IN PRACTICAL CHRISTIAN LIFE

1. SEE GOD AS HE IS … AND HIS PLAN FOR YOU

God gives above all that we can ask or think (Eph 3:20; 1Cor 1:27-29). He is waiting to help anyone who calls upon him (2Chron 16:19). God is greater than your problems and need, and even those of the whole world. He knows your every detail. Every word you speak (Ps 139:4). All things are possible with God (Mk 10:27). When you are born again God becomes your loving Father. He is the loving Father, almighty, unlimited God of the present waiting to help you.

Realize He is not limited by time or space. Eg. King vs Elisha. King could not see God as He is. He had a limited vision. Thereby limited God to perform a miracle he needed. King of Samaria looked at the circumstance and not on God. Hence he got angry with prophet. He took matters into his own hands, to kill Elisha. Notice Elisha’s response to the circumstance. God revealed him that the King had send someone to kill him. He was not afraid because his eyes were on God only. He knew his God well. He did not question God for the situation. Are you like king or Elisha? When in our hard times, we don’t see God in all his power. We do not see Him as He is. Do not allow fear, circumstances, hopelessness or doubt or even the hard facts to hinder your vision of God. Learn to deal with God on a supernatural realm. God is beyond all the natural laws of nature. God’s ways are not our ways (Isa 55:8-9). Allow God to answer our prayers in the way he likes. Martha had a limited vision of God. She became a slave of facts and circumstance like the king. Others asked why he allowed him to die. Though they did not have faith, Jesus wanted to meet their need and build up their faith.

Deal with people, places and things as they are, not as you wish them to be. There is no situation in your life which is impossible for God. Centurion’s faith sees Jesus as He is (Mt 8:5-13). He allowed Jesus to speak the word and go beyond his human limitations. Jesus has all the authority in heaven and earth (Mt 28:18).

We should know God by our relationship with God. There is the possibility of knowing Him and having relationship with him. Nothing is greater than friendship and love with him. Relationship with God and man is the most important thing for any person. Without proper relationship with God, you cannot have proper relationship with man. Both are interconnected.

2. TAKE YOUR EYES OFF YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES – DON’T BE IN BONDAGE OF YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES

Do not look at the bigness of your problem and be defeated, but look at the greatness of your God and be victorious. When you look at your problems you can’t see God. Take your eyes off your circumstances and see God as he is and worship him. He will never forsake you nor leave you (Heb 13:5).

When Stephen was stoned he did not look at stones; rather looked at God and saw Him. Likewise Peter could walk on water as long as his attention was on Jesus. Identify yourself with Joseph in the pit. He just trusted in God, his way to prosperity. God did not take away the problems or circumstances of Joseph, but made him victorious in his circumstances. It is not ignoring the problem, but facing the problem head on without fear. God can use your circumstances for your good.

There are 2 forces behind your circumstances.

  1. Satan wants to use your circumstance to defeat you and make you and others to accuse the word of God both living and written, by making you to keep your eyes on your circumstances.
  1. God wants to intervene in your circumstance, meet your need and glorify His name. He will take you step by step by step.

Stop worrying about devil and stand as close as you can to God and his plan for you. Be persistent. Blind beggar Bartimaeus did not listen to the negative voices of crowd (Mk 10:46-52). Consistency of our daily communion with God prepares us to face any problem. Give up the sense of self-sufficiency you developed in your life. Don’t try and fail and then go to God. First go to God.

3. SEE YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES AS MIRACLE OPPORTUNITIES

They are opportunities for you to come closer to God. Challenge the circumstances with the power of God.

4. REALISE IN EVERY PROMISE OF GOD IS THE SEED FOR YOUR MIRACLE

God has already spoken the word to meet your circumstance. Just claim the promise of God. God’s promises are not dependent on you (Rom 3:3-4). Miracles from their promise to fulfillment are based on the word of God, both written and living. Every promise has inherent in itself the power for its own fulfillment, the same power which created the world. Only you can limit its workability for you. All that He expects from you is that you consider not him a liar, that what He has spoken he will do accordingly. That is, just believe him. Elisha spoke with simple loyalty to God, without fear or doubt. See God behind the pages of the Bible and see Him personally speaking to you. Bible is God’s voice speaking to you. Through Christ you have access to all the promises of God in the written word of God. Whatsoever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you (Jn 15:16).

HOW ABRAHAM KNEW THAT HE WOULD INHERIT THE PROMISE

How can I know that I will receive the inheritance (Gen 15:8-11). God showed him blood sacrifice. God gives only sufficient evidence. Abraham split animals in the middle (a type of Jesus death). Deep sleep for Abraham (time gap). God performed this covenant as a type of NT covenant of righteousness. He saw Jesus the mediator passing between blood covered flesh in the form of burning lamp and smoking furnace – HS (Gen 15:17; Jn 8:56). Abraham saw Jesus walking through death on behalf of him and his spiritual descendants. Abram saw all the ingredients of the church: blood covered flesh with smoking furnace. See Jer 11:4; Isa 48:10; Ps 119:105-106. Birds came to steal the truth of blood sacrifice and cause us to base our faith on dead works (Devil - Mk 4:4; Jn 10:10).

DON’T GIVE UP, PERSEVERE

Case of Abraham. He waited for 10 years. No child. So Sarah decided to take matters into her own hands (Hagar). It was a wrong way of dealing with God’s promise. Similarly some acknowledge God’s promises, but when they fail to see results they take matters into their own hands. They look for the evidence in the physical manifestation, not in the infallible promises of God. Some even try to fabricate a physical manifestation in order to make it known to others that God is working with them. Then 14 more years passed. Abraham might have reconciled to himself that the promise of God might be fulfilled through Ishmael. Because there was no human possibility. But the fulfillment proves that the power is not in man but the word of God. Don’t put any limits upon God. Don’t concentrate on outward manifestation. Fix your eyes on His Word. Don’t take matters into your own hands. God will do what he has promised. You don’t have to help God to bring about what he promised, with your strategies.

5. RECEIVE GOD’S PROMISES INTO YOUR SPIRIT

Since the natural mind cannot understand the supernatural, his promises must bypass your natural mind. The word of God – living and written must be penetrated and planted deep into your spirit. They will not grow if planted in mind. Hearing the promises or seeing them manifested in the lives of others is not enough. Rather your spirit must become saturated with the promises. If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you (Jn 15:7). Hence continually meditate on the word of God and allow the word to remove your doubt and fear. The word will take root in your spirit and grow. Have rest. Faith of Mary = yielding to God = be it unto me even as you have spoken it (Lk 1:38). First she received the promise in her spirit. Then came the physical manifestation of it.

6. ACT ON GOD’S WORD – THE PROMISES GOD HAS GIVEN YOU

Faith is an act of the spirit. God’s promise must be received and acted upon before it can be worked out. Jesus wanted people to act upon the word before it can be manifested. Stretch forth thy hand (Mk 3:5). Take up thy bed and walk (Mk 2:9). 10 lepers – Go and show to the priests (Lk 17:11-14). Act by speaking the word of God like Elisha. God will do the rest. Trust completely in God and allow Him to do it in His own way. Give up your pride of getting things in the way you wanted (Naaman). 4 lepers of Samaria –took a step of faith - why we sit here until we die?

7. REALIGN YOUR THINKING WITH GOD’S WORD

Your thoughts must be in line with God’s word, conform them to the promises of God. Your desire must ultimately be fitting into God’s desire, God’s glory. Don’t align our lives and thoughts to what we were taught, hear, practiced etc. Adjust our lives to what God said, just as you adjust things to what doctors say. God’s word is the final word, not any other opinion or circumstance. Allow God’s word to control you and your thoughts.

8. EAT THE WORD – COMMANDS, PROMISES AND PROPHECIES

Identify God’s promises to your circumstance. Saturate your spirit and mind with them. Feed on the word of God. Consider the word as essential as food and air for you. “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceed out of the mouth of God” (Mt 4:4). Meditate them day and night. Allow the word to grow in you. Whatever is planted in your heart will come out. “Out of the abundance of the heart mouth speaketh’’ (Mt 12:34). If fear, anger, hatred… planted in your heart they will come out. If the word of God is planted, they will come out with power for any miracle. You get only according to your faith. If you believe no miracle, tongues, baptism of HS etc then you just don’t get. If you don’t expect miracles, you don’t receive them.

9. INCARNATE INTO THE CONTEXT – MEDIATE – INTERCEDE – BETWEEN FACT AND TRUTH, REDEEM FACT SITUATION INTO TRUTH SITUATION

Feel one with, feel the burden, compassion, deep oneness of spirit, thus fill the gap between the context and almighty word of God.

10. ACT ON GOD’S WORD BY SPEAKING IT FORTH

When the word is spoken forth, the miracle is set in motion. Believe you have received the miracle, when you speak the word. Do not base your faith on the physical manifestation, but on the unchangeable word of God. God is looking for people who have confidence in him and are loyal to his word. When you speak the word remember you are not speaking your word, but God’s word. Jesus said : whosoever shall say unto this mountain (your circumstances) be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith (Mk 11:23).

In every circumstance you face there is a miracle provision for you. Because he said: I will never leave you nor forsake you. Because Lord is my helper, I will not fear what man shall do unto me (Heb 13:5-6). We cannot out-give or out-sacrifice God. He will more than meet our needs in response to our simple loyalty to His word. But don’t test God. If you test him to see whether he will bless you or not, you will not get it (Mal 3:10).

Jesus already paid the price (1pet 2:24). You don’t have to struggle to believe. The faith and power is in the word itself. The word will accomplish its purpose. Hence what lacks is your action.

He will supply all your needs (Phil 4:19). Seek first the kingdom of God and righteousness (Mt 6:31-33). Hear and do the word to prosper (Deut 29:9). Whatever you desire when you pray, believe that you receive them and you shall have them (Mk 11:24).

We should not ignore facts of life. We should know the facts. But we should not be enslaved by facts (Num 13:30-31). Rather trust in God like Joshua and Caleb. Without childlike faith in God it is impossible to please Him (Read 1Sam 17:45-47; 2 Sam 6:21-22; 2 Sam 7:16; 2 Sam 22:2-3; Dan 3:16-18).

The guarantee and justification for the wonder working power of faith or the ticket of faith was purchased with a great price of blood of Christ. Whoever you are unless you have that ticket of true faith, you cannot be a legitimate traveler.
