Does it cost the death of God? Why God cannot simply forgive sin without his death? Is sin so serious? Why is forgiveness for tricky? Why is it difficult for man to forgive? These are some of the questions and issues which come to our mind, when we think about sin and forgiveness.

The Bible teaches and Christianity believes that, God was manifested in Jesus Christ, and that Jesus died on the cross for the remission of the sins of mankind. As it is a historically verifiable and undeniable fact, now we should ask WHY GOD HAD TO DO THIS. God will not do this unless it was inevitable for us. Some may argue that it is impossible for God to die. But we should know that nothing is impossible for God, and that it is the manifestation of God in Jesus, who died on the cross.

WE MUST UNDERSTAND, HOW SERIOUS OUR SIN IS, IN THE SIGHT OF GOD. And how much God loves us: to the extent of dying the death on the cross. The need of God’s death, can be grasped only in the light of the infinite love and righteousness of God, towards us. And it is also the INFINITE HOLINESS AND WRATH OF GOD AGAINST SIN. God is going to judge everyone in accordance with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Hence the forgiveness and salvation of God, is about the NEED TO ACCEPT GOD’S PROVISION IN JESUS; And also about the extreme consequences if we reject the gift of God in Jesus. GOD CANNOT BREAK OR DESTROY HIS OWN LAW. The High standard holiness righteousness justice of God’s Law must be honored by all. According to God’s law, the wages of sin is eternal death. Thus, the mankind became enslaved to sin, sickness, death, devil, world, and hell. Eternal death penalty of man can be cancelled, only by the death of the ONLY ETERNAL SON OF GOD, OR THE HUMAN MANIFESTATION OF GOD, IN JESUS CHRIST.

HENCE, GOD’S SOLUTION TO THE SIN PROBLEM OF MANKIND, IS JESUS CHRIST, AND HIM THAT IS CRUCIFED, DIED AND RESURRECTED. God decided to save the sinned mankind, without violating His own Law. The acceptable solution for God was, God Himself coming as the Man Jesus, in order to take the sin punishment of mankind, which is death, and thus die and resurrect. This plan was portrayed in the Old Testament sacrifices and feasts, thousands of years in advance, so that those who doubt the veracity of this truth, shall have no excuse.

THE DEATH OF GOD, IN JESUS CHRIST, HAD SOME OTHER ADDITIONAL BENEFITS. First of all, the believers can have salvation from sin, death, devil, and hell; and also have full restoration plus the resurrection glory in heaven. Secondly, the believes can have the new birth of becoming a new race of the sons of God, who are even superior to the angels, and closer to God than all other creatures of God. Thirdly, the believers can thus have the unique privilege of having the inheritance of God, which is so great and unimaginable to the faculties of mankind.

Thus, it is to make us the sons of God, that god came as the son of God, which is the manifestation of God.  Romans chapter 8, verse 29 says: For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. God gave us the authority to become the sons of God, by faith in God Jesus. John chapter 1, verses 12 and 13 read: But as many as received him, to them gave he, the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Thus, the new man, the believer is not created, but born of God. THEY ARE THE BORN-AGAIN SONS OF GOD, BY THE WORD OF GOD, THE BLOOD OF GOD AND THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD. THUS, THEY ARE THE NEW CREATURES, EVEN ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE ANGELS; AND ARE PREVILEGED WITH THE INHEREITANCE OF GOD.

God gave us the status of sons of god only through his death; which was a painful process for god. Hence, the believers are so precious for god. Thus, the salvation work for man, which was the sacrificial death of god, was costlier for god, than even the creation of the entire universe.  

Thus, the believers, who are the sons of God, are a special category of beings. Hence, entire creation is waiting for the revelation of sons of God. Romans chapter 8, verses 18 to 23 say: For, I reckon that, the sufferings of this present time, are not worthy to be compared with the glory, which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature, waits for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him, who has subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself, also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption, into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together, until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
