THE TRUTH ABOUT SALVATION IN THE BIBLE
NO AUTOMATIC SALVATION – ONE MUST REPENT AND BELIEVE
There are hundreds of verses in the Bible to prove that all are not automatically saved. According to the New Testament one can be said to be saved only if one repents and believes in Jesus Christ. If there is no urgency in repentance and believing in Jesus why the apostles preached the gospel of Jesus even at the cost of their own lives?
JN 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. JN 3: 36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Rom 10:9-11That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Acts 2:37-42 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 5:30-31 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
WHY PETER PREACHED TO CORNELIUS WHO WAS A GOOD MAN?
Acts 10:34-35 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. ACTS 10:2, 22, 33, 42-44, 48 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway… And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee… Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God… And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word… And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
PAUL IN ACTS 16 HAS REPEATED IT. Acts 16:30-31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
JUSTIFIED BY FATH
ROM 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Gal 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Reconciliation is only possible through faith. John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. Romans 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.Phil 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
JESUS AND NICODEMUS - GENERAL FAITH IN GOD IS NOT ENOUGH FOR SALVATION.
Jn 3:1-3 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
THOSE WHO ABANDON FAITH IN JESUS WILL BE IN HELL – BIBLE PROOF
HEB 2:1-4 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? GAL 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
JESUS IS THE JUDGE who will reward all according to our works. Mt 25:46; Rev 22:15. Jesus Christ said, “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal” (Matthew 25:46; cf. Daniel 12:2-3). Thus, for Jesus Christ eternal torment and eternal life are of the same duration. Why eternal torment should be limited and eternal life not is inconceivable. Paul said there are some who “will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord” 2 Thes 1:9. Paul also thinks this. There are these two destinations; namely, “indignation and wrath” or “eternal life” (Romans 2:6-10; cf. Revelation 21—22). Paul himself believed in a permanently lost condition of those who reject Christ (Romans 1 Corinthians 1:18; 2 Corinthians 2:15; 4:3; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; 2:10). John says of these that “the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever” Rev 14:11. If all are to be automatically saved, and if Judas was also to be saved, then Jesus should not have said that, ‘it would have been better for Judas not to have been born’. But Jesus said it. It is yet another definitive proof for the hell punishment for the rebels.
