The method produced in those who used it an EXTREMELY IRRATIONAL AND EVIL ATTITUDE OF ACADEMIC ARROGANCE AND PRIDE. They try to intimidate others by concocting an aura of intellectual terror around themselves. Hence the method BLOCKS ITS SUBSCRIBERS FROM GAINING THE TRUE THEOLOGICAL INSIGHTS. Even some evangelicals are ignorantly using it for showing off their scholarship.

THE METHOD OF HIGHER CRITICISM IS GIVEN MORE AUTHORITY  THAN BIBLE ITSELF. It has an unjustifiable claim about its own absolute validity in obtaining knowledge. Many fell into the folly. Thus dependence on the historico-critical method began to be illegitimately considered as indispensable for any legitimate theological insight. Thus the authority of the Bible was transferred to the historical-critical method itself. This was a METHODOLOGICAL-HERMENEUTICAL SUBVERSION. This pseudo-scholarly methodology, which is the root cause of most of the evils in modern theology, was widely used to falsely secure intellectual legitimacy for any statement. They deceive the people by projecting this method as the only adequate and indisputable normative, indispensable for a genuine understanding of the Scriptural truth.

TOTAL DISUNITY AMONG HIGHER CRITICS.Wellhausen distributes the total task among twenty-two writers, and Kuenen among eighteen. Many others resolve each individual writer into a school of writers, and thus multiply the numbers enormously. There is no agreement among the higher critics concerning this analysis, and therefore the cautious learner may well wait till those who represent the theory tell him just what it is they desire him to learn. They are unanimous in denying the inspiration of the Bible, the divinity of Christ and of the Holy Spirit, the fall of man and the forgiveness of sins through Christ; also prophecy and miracles, the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, heaven and hell. But when it comes to their so called assured results of higher criticism, in their numerous publications there is only a flood of disputable, self-contradictory and mutually destructive hypotheses.

LIBERAL SCHOLARS WERE COWARDS AND DECIEVERS BECAUSE INSTEAD OF DEFENDING CHURCH IN THE FACE OF ATTACK FROM OUTSIDE THEY JOINED WITH ENEMIES. The whole project of liberal theology is sunk in shame. As leaders of the Church and intellectuals it was their duty to defend the Biblical doctrines against the attack from the secular philosophy. But to their shame they rejected the mother faith, the Biblical Christian faith and joined with the enemies of faith, to destroy their own faith. The story of liberal theology is the story of the self-hatred of Christians. And Church was so blind that the church accepted such deceivers as Christian theologians.

LIBERAL THEOLOGY FUNCTIONED AS A DESTRUCTIVE DOUBLE EDGED SWORD FROM WITHIN THE ORGANIZATIONAL CHURCH – WEAKENING THE CHURCH FROM WITHIN AND SUPPLYING  INTELLECTUAL RESOURCES TO THE ENEMIES OF CHRISTIANITY TO ATTACK THE CHURCH FROM WITHOUT. Liberal theology is a direct attack on Christian truth from within. It is the most virulent Conspiracy to wreck the church from within. In the name of academics they critically studied bible and became enemies of cross, and joined with enemies. They devised weapons which were used by the most vocal traditional enemies of Christian faith to attack Christianity from without. Those who we thought will defend the truth on our behalf humbled and deceived us. LIBERAL THEOLOGY – A CURSE AND DANGER TO CHURCH AND WORLD. LIBERAL THEOLOGY PROVED TO BE A TRAGEDY, TRAP, CURSE AND DANGER.Modern liberal theology made a very negative impact on the churches and seminaries.The liberal theology under various labels dominated all areas of theology and accomplished the disintegration of the basic elements of Biblical faith. It slowly entered into the theological institutions and brainwashed the theological students. Then through the theological graduates the false theology spread to the congregation and schools. Media gave maximum help. The liberal scholars and ministers were promoted to responsible positions. The liberals developed a missionary like zeal to brainwash the entire church. Churches were forced to change in accordance with the new theology. They completely took over many churches and seminaries which magnified the untruth at the cost of the truth.

Theological liberalism rejects Biblical Christianity. Hence it made the secular society to feel no need to attend or support secularized churches with a secularized theology. The denial of hell simply misled millions about their eternal destiny. Modern theology is inadequate, peripheral, useless and dangerous. Modern theology is incapable of providing answers to man’s spiritual problems. It only deals with some existential issues connected with social and political experiences, not eternal spiritual issues. They cannot talk about dealing with demons or sin problem of man.

Modern theology fails to see difference between the Church and the world. There is no emphasis on personal salvation or a personal relationship with God. The humanistic liberal worldview is self-centered, not God centered.  The salvation of mankind is based on man’s own efforts. This leads to self-worship that prepares the world for the worship of Satan. Christian churches and colleges have generally failed to teach Christians how to live the Christian life and to warn Christians about humanism and Neo-orthodoxy and their ideologies. Christians fail to recognize that Satan can successfully use the Church for his own purposes of deception. Let us now remember Paul’s words in 2 Cor. 11:13-15: “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” "The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons." 1 Tim. 4:1. "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap-up for themselves teachers, and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables." 2 Tim 4:3, 4.

HIGHER CRICISM DESTROYS MORAL CHARACTER OF INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES AND NATIONS. Higher Criticism has dethroned the Bible in the home, and the practice of "family worship" is rapidly dying out. The prosperity and power of the Protestant nations of the world are due to the influence of the Bible upon character and conduct of the individuals and families. No one who is trained in the fear of God will fail in his duty to his neighbor, but will prove himself a good citizen. But the dethronement of the Bible by the higher criticism practically leads to the dethronement of God. This will gradually destroy the very foundations of nations.

JESUS’ APPROVAL OF THE BIBLE IS SUFFICIENT GUARANTEE FOR US

The attitude of Christ to the Old Testament Scriptures must determine ours. He is God. He is truth. His is the final voice. He is the Supreme Judge. Christ Jesus the Lord believed and affirmed the historic veracity of the whole of the Old Testament writings implicitly (Luke 24:44). And the Canon, or collection of Books of the Old Testament, was precisely the same in Christ’s time as it is today. And further. Christ Jesus our Lord believed and emphatically affirmed the Mosaic authorship of the Pentateuch (Matthew 5:17-18; Mark12:26-36; Luke 16:31; John 5:46-47).

THE VIEWS OF MODERN CRITICISM ARE WRONG AS THEY CONTRADICT THE WITNESS OF JESUS. In the days of Jesus’s life on earth, one pressing question was, "What think ye of the Christ?" Another was, "What is written in the Law? How readest thou?" These questions are still being raised in one form or another. The two problems really resolve themselves into one, for Christ and the Bible are inseparable. If we follow Christ, He will teach us of the Bible; and if we study our Bible, it will point us to Christ. Each is called the Word of God.

Let us, first of all, be quite clear as to our meaning of our Lord as "The Word of God." "In the beginning was the Word." A word is an oral or visible expression of an invisible thought. The thought needs the word for its expression, and the word is intended to represent the thought accurately, even if not completely. We cannot in any degree be sure of the thought unless we can be sure of the word. Our Lord as the Word, therefore, is the personal and visible expression of the invisible God. (John 14; Hebrews 1:3.) We believe that He is an accurate "expression" of God, exact image of the invisible God, and that as the Word He reveals God and conveys God's will to us in such a way as to be inerrant and infallible. As the Incarnate Word He is infallible. Hence, as far as the Old Testament canon is concerned, our highest authority is Jesus Himself. IF WE WANT TO REMAIN WITHIN CHRISTIAN FAITH, WE SHOULD ACCEPT JESUS AND BIBLE AS TRUE.

To the Lord Jesus the Old Testament was authoritative and final, because Divine. He sets His seal to its historicity and its revelation of God.He supplements, but never supplants it. He amplifies and modifies, but never nullifies it. He fulfils, i.e. fills full, but never makes void.There is scarcely a historical book, from Genesis to 2Chronicles, to which our Lord does not refer; while it is perhaps significant that His testimony includes references to every book of the Pentateuch, to Isaiah, to Jonah, to Daniel, and to miracles-the very parts most called in question today. At His temptation Jesus quoted from the OT three times as the Word of God. His teachings about God, about righteousness, about the Messiah, about tradition, about the Sabbath, about the Samaritans, about women, about divorce, about the baptism of John, were diametrically opposed to that of the time. And this opposition was deliberately grounded on the Old Testament which Jesus charged the Jews with misinterpreting.

The one and only question of difference between Him and the Jews as to the Old Testament was that of interpretation. Not a vestige of proof can be adduced that He and they differed at all in their general view of its historical character or Divine authority.Jesus never charged Jews with adding to or taking from the Scriptures, or in any way tampering with the text. The Lord reproaches His countrymen with ignorance of the Scriptures, and with making the law void through their traditions, but He never hints that they have foisted any book into the canon, or rejected any which deserved a place in it. Now, the Old Testament canon of the first century is the same as our own. The testimony of Josephus, of Melito of Sardis, of Origen, of Jerome, of the Talmud, decisively shows that the Old Testament canon, once fixed, has remained unaltered.Septuagint agrees with the Hebrew as to the canon, thus showing that the subject was not in dispute two centuries before Christ.

AFTER RESURRECTION JESUS APPROVES OLD TESTAMENT. There is, no question of partial knowledge after the resurrection, when our Lord was manifestly free from all limitations of earthly conditions.Yet it was after His resurrection also that He set His seal to the Old Testament. (Luke 24 :44). Christ affirmed after His glorious resurrection that “all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms Concerning Me” (Luke 24:44). It is the statement of Him Who has been declared the Son of God with power. The Risen Lord solemnly declared that those books which we receive as the product of Moses were indeed the books of Moses. He also authorized with His Divine authority the whole of the Old Testament Scriptures from the beginning to the end. "Beginning at Moses, and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself… These are the words which I spoke unto you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me…. Then opened Hetheir mind that they might understand the Scriptures." And the rest of the New Testament is the fruit of that ministry, the Holy Spirit leading them into all truth. And in every part of the New Testament the Divine authority of the Hebrew Scriptures, is either taught or assumed. When Christ makes reference to Old Testament narratives and records, He accepts them as authentic, as historically true. He does not give or suggest in any case a mythical or allegorical interpretation. The accounts of the creation, of the flood, of the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, as well as many incidents and events of later occurrence, are taken as authentic.

JESUS SAID WORDS OF OLD TESTAMENT ARE COMMANDS OF GOD. “God commanded, saying, Honor thy father and thy mother: and He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death” (Matthew 15:4). “In vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men. Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition” (Mark 7:8,9). Thus Old Testament Scriptures express the mind of God. In His sermon on the Mount our Lord thus refers to His own relation to the Old Testament economy and its Scriptures: “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one title shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled” (Matthew 5:17,18). No stronger words could be employed to affirm the divine authority of every part of the Old Testament, because the law and the prophets mean the entire Old Testament Scriptures.

SO DON’T BELIEVE THE FALSE THEORIES OF HIGHER CRITICS. Thus the theory of the higher critics is highly improbable and their method purely subjective to be probable and reliable. Moreover, the critics are not agreed as to the number of documents, or as to the portions to be assigned to each author. For example, the critics themselves are not agreed as to how many authors wrote book of Isaiah. Anyone can assume any number…and there will never be any unanimity in matters of error. Intelligent people can never believe what these critics teach.
